Back from Vacation ...

After a vacation break in India here I am again with more trouble :). With all the confidence you all gave me I have recently started singing in public (still alive needless to say :)). I am planning on singing a few songs in an upcoming local event and here are a couple of those. Would really appreciate your honest feedback so that I can correct myself more.

The first song is Pramadhavanam from His Highness Abdhulla. For the first time I dared to sing a non-tamil song and I am pretty sure my malayalam would drive every one nuts, a lot more than Udit's tamil songs. I also know its one of the best songs ever composed. But on top of all that I lovvvvvvve that song and have been fascinated by it every time I hear it in all these 15 years. So couldn't resist my urge. Please bare with my pronounciation and feel free to correct the most annoying things (I am sure I can never get it all correct, would love to just correct the core ones first) to begin with.

Pramadhavanam(Low-fi)(Hi-fi)

The next song I uploaded is a new melody from Vidyasagar from Mozhi. I loved every aspect of this song like every one else. Great Lyrics, excellent rhythm, prefect voice and tune. Here is my attempt on it. Give it a ear when you get a chance and drop a comment.

Kaatrin Mozhi(Low-fi)(Hi-fi)

Hi TC ...welcome back :-) I know how it feels to be back from an India trip.

Heard both the songs...first of all I would like to congratulate you on attempting Pramadhavanam ...as it is such a tough song to sing ...even if you are classically trained. I think you did a decent job and your pronounciation of malayalm was better than my tamil pronounciation of Uyiren Uyire :)

Katrin Mozi was just awesome ...great voice modulations ...liked it a lot :)

Thanks Marutham. Glad to have you back and appreciate your feedback.

Aarthi, nice surprise. Thanks for the encouraging comments. Howz Life?

I was doing this with confidence since people who listened to these didn't know where I live. Now you and Anu are getting me tensed. Hold back on the thakali and mutai. I guess I have to put better efforts now :).

TCR: Awesome job with Kaatrin mozhi...abs loved it...Pramadhavanam was a commendable effort given you are not classically trained...you were off in some places...but overall it was indeed a brave attempt :)...Keep posting more...:)

Thanks Priti. Thanks for the time and valuable feedback. Pramadhavanam was a tough song indeed esp because the scale was way out of my range and I am trying to increase my pitch lately. I do have a carnatic background, started as a hobby after finish my masters and settling in a job. Having said that, I will pay more attention to notes and try to do a better job of that song soon and repost it.

When is your next song coming up. Summer break is over long back and winter is here. Move it faster... :)

I am planning to graduate very soon...so it is eating up most of my time...I was reminded of my blog today after a long time...singing sure....very soon :)...you are classically trained??? woow...then I guess you should practice and redo this song at a slightly lower scale.. :)

TC Sir, It was a great attempt, despite not knowing the language, you have done a grt attempt. In the humming, some where I felt it was going out of Jog Ragam. some slight pitch out or u have used some Anya Swaram, i think. Rest all was good. Thalam also somewhere missed i believe. But it was an awesome effort. Raveendran Mashu has brought everything from Jog Ragam to this song. You can easily get the feel of that Ragam and can learn easily from the song.
Good effort. Expecting more from you.
With Love,
Arun.

Arun, thanks for the visit. I really appreciate your keen observation and the detailed feedback. Its really a great help to get get feedback like this as you already know.

Obviously this song was one of the toughest I had to learn and sing. Did notice that I have used the "lower Ga" in some places but didn't have the guts to reattempt the song yet. Will try to fix these issues and repost it soon.

Btw, you can just call me TC. Please stop by frequently and help me with feedbacks like this.
